Third time's a charm!! Can I get a ballpark figure on someone "z'ing" my frame?

i could try calling them, but their wait list is always forever and the prices are out of my range!! they do some awesome work though

You get what you pay for don't cheap out on frame modifications..

i dont plan on cheaping out..theres tons of places im sure that do quality work that is cheaper than extensive, well i hope lol. i read on another forum that some guy would do it for like $300. so i wasnt sure if he was kidding, or if its really that much

What might be a more appropriate question is are there any quality shops in your area that can Z your frame.

If your going to Z the front, what are you doing in the rear? Will you need the same shop to build a step notch?

I just did a quick search on Google and found the following shops that you might call. Cutten Customs has been around for many years. I don't know anything about Cut Throat Fabrication, but the do show a slammed 68 Burb on their site.

Make sure you figure all expenses when pricing a "Z". Not just the frame work.

Think about raising the entire engine/trans combo. (as in new engine mounts and trans mounts/crossmember) Raised sheetmetal work for the tranny tunnel and driveshaft tunnel. Custom carpet to use in your now "non original" floor. Custom/modified trans linkage. The list goes on and on.
Not being negative,... just want you to weigh all the costs.

I had to forget the "Z" idea,... since I can't weld.
That's why I chose the Porterbuilt Dropmember route.
It worked out the best for me.

Extensive was charging me $1700 for a Z. This was my first choice but then I ran into this site and the dropmember caught my attention because it was $700 less, nice design, and the steering upgrade. I could probably go on with the benfits but in the long run a DM is the best way to go.

Wow chuck..Didnt even know about their hack-job till now..

Still..Z"ing the frame dosnt compare to a full-frame build..If they screw that up, Then that would REALLY be something to start a good ol' shop bashing thread about...

lolife, i didnt know all that was involved in z'ing a frame. thats A LOT of work, if all my quotes are anything over 500 then i might has well save up for a dropmember..and it looks like i might lol.

I was quoted 1,900 for a "Z" by The Choppin Block in Fresno. 1,500 to "Z" the frame and 400 to assemble the suspension..

most shops will be between 500 and a grand for the basic Z. Its a ***** if the engine and everything is in the truck.

DHPmike that was one of the best replies i have read so far, those guys are realy slick by shaving the bottom of the frame to avoid a body drop.
