Finally back in the US, and a Picture of the Truck
Hi all, I'm finally back in the US after a deployment... been a while since I drove the truck!
It rested in a storage garage near my parents' house, and my dad would start it and drive it about twenty to thirty miles a month just to keep it fresh. He had been busy though and when I returned home, it hadn't been moved in a month. It fired up on the second crank without issue. It's just over a believed to be 25k actual miles... Here's a cellphone picture: Unfortunately I'm in TX for the meantime but should get a new duty assignment on the east coast in a few months, which is why I'm not getting my truck shipped out here. I'm still unsure what to do with it long term... leave it be and just preserve it, restore bits and pieces, full restoration (should be relatively easy), bag it on 20s (probably least likely), sell it, just drive it more, who knows. I'm kind of confused on cars right now. Currently it's just a complete garage queen and weekend cruiser, going to the occassional show or sometimes carrying something that won't fit in my DD. I do know the AC needs to be fixed (converted to R134 and it worked for a week until the compressor died) and that's a big hurt on summer driveability. Regardless, I'm glad to see the community here is still alive and kicking... |

Re: Finally back in the US, and a Picture of the Truck
Welcome back buddy. I suggest you just sell it... Seriously, you seem to enjoy it most like it sits. Until you feel the urge to make changes, fix what needs attention and enjoy it for what it is...

Re: Finally back in the US, and a Picture of the Truck
Welcome home Kurt . Glad to hear from you and as it has been stated above, Thank you for your service to a a still great country . It is still great because of men/women like you and all you give to keep it that way .
Thanks ! About the truck . Do whatever makes you feel good about it . I am sure it will be the right thing . If you want to lower it , you can do it with bolt ons and it can always go back original with the turn of a few wrenches . Either way it is an amazing truck . Frank

Re: Finally back in the US, and a Picture of the Truck
Like everyone else has stated, but can't be stated enough. WELCOME HOME, and THANK YOU for your service.
I'm glad to see pics of your truck again. That is one sharp truck. I would just hang on to it. No sense in selling it, and regretting it. Take the time to think about it, and like Frank said whatever you decide it will be right. Hard to go wrong with that truck. |
