last may i bought an 86 f150 only because it was very cheap and it was a great truck for me it has barley 96000 miles on it it just isnt the prettyst thing to look at(like any ford is) but awhile back it wouldnt start so i thought o well need a new battery cause the one it had in it couldnt hold a charge, so that fixed it for a few days and then it went back to not starting so i got my starter tested and it was bad so i got a new starter and still nothing then today i pulled the alternater and got it tested and the darn thing still wont work im pulling my hair out what do i do

i thought that they had some weird relay or solenoid setup on one of the fender well setups somewhere? my dad has an 89, maybe i can look at it. follow your starter wires to see where they run too.

before you spend to much money buy a book with wiring diagrams and trace your wires. you didn't buy a flood car did you? a lot of people are selling nice looking cars and trucks that have been in floods.they all have electrical problems. you should do a carfax if you don't know where it came from.

spaceghost u read my mind i just got back from the shop and i grabbed the voltmeter and it aint showin up nothin so i guess when i get off work tomorrow mournin im runnin by autozone i hope this works

yeah man, fords aint that bad. the wife's mustang is the least problematic car we have, go figure!

i get my license back on halloween its been a year since i drove so this thing will hopefully be runnin fine when that day comes, o and i got that celloniod a buddy had one layin around(what good luck)

and the battery is dead but i pulled out the old screwdriver trick and she was turnin so we got a problem solved

i think this forum is for projects and builds. it sounds like this is more of a repair situation. just sayin', no offense.
