Re: rear end question

No it's not, but you haven't given it any time to be seen either. There are lots of people on here who have probably done everything imaginable to these trucks. Just give it some time and I assure you someone who has done this swap will speak up. No one wants a bunch off guesses for answers from people who "think" it will bolt right in and have no first hand knowlege. Good luck with your swap.

Re: rear end question

rusty.. what is prompting this question? Is something wrong with your axle? Do you have an 88+ axle laying around with better gears???

Also...the board will become more active after people return home from work. Be patient grasshopper.

Member nlped has done this. It is an excellent swap as it is wider that the original rear end, and brings the track width out closer to matching the front. You will need to relocated the spring perches and swap spring brackets. Ed can tell you more for sure, but you will probably need to swap brake backing plates too so you can keep the correct e-brake cables and the SAE brake line fittings. I'm guessing the 88 and up are metric brake line fittings.

Should be a very easy swap if you have a welder, or have access to one.
