For collectors plates the vehicle only needs to be 25 years old, so you can get collectors plates. I will be getting them for my 85 next year.

As for the emissions part, the link Ken posted is a good resource. I can't help you much there as I have always lived outside of the emissions limits in Colorado. The Denver-metro area is a lot stricter that the rest of the state. I have never had an emission test, and I've lived here all my life!

One thing I did find is:

Quote:
On 1975 and newer vehicles, the following equipment is checked to make sure it is installed, intact, and in apparent working order:

* gas cap
* catalytic converter
* air injection system
* O2 sensor system
* fuel filler restricter
* check engine light

Vehicles not originally equipped with these items are not required to have them. Vehicles that were originally equipped with any of them must have them in place in order to pass the emissions test.

Re: Emmsions in Colorado

The only thing i have on that list is a gas cap. But i knew the 25 years old part but i went to get temps and they said that it needs to be a 76 or older becuase everyone was getting them.

Re: Emmsions in Colorado

That's crap, the statute says 25 years. Unless the statute gets changed, that's the law.
