'77 GMC Information
Can anyone tell me if a Factory Assembly Manual exists for the 1977 GMC/Chev truck? Better yet, where can I buy one or at least have it copied?
Does anybody know what the paint code is for the Gold inlay in 1977 GMC/Chev truck trim? Thanks and have a good day....

Your best bet is to find a Haynes manual- http://www.haynes.com
As far as the trim insert color,I'm sure there is a solution out there, but I haven't found it. A few years ago, I ordered what was supposed to be the correct color from a PPG paint store. It was a close match if you were 20 feet away. We tried to have it matched with a spectrum analyzer and that gave us a good 5 footer. Me and my buddy spent several hours playing with it and got it close enough. What we created could not be used for touch up over the OEM paint, but we could repaint everything and only an expert would know the difference.

Yo! FAXON Auto Literature has new and used shop manuals for nearly all vehicles from the '20s to present. That's where I get ALL my shop manuals, etc,...
www.faxonautolit.com I usually just call them, they're quite helpful and nice to talk shop to: 1-800-458-2734. I have a Haynes' (prefer Chiltons'), but these are the origonal GM SHOP MANUALS! Todd.

Thanks for the ideas! As for the manuals, I have a copy of most service and repair manuals including from GM, what would be nice is the manual used by the factory assembly line for the production of these vehicles. I have found them for 67 - 72 but not for the 73 - 87 production years.

I think he's referring to the PAD sheets (Product Assembly Documents); sometimes called PDM's (Product Description Manuals).
I am not aware of them being available. We used to throw them away when we were done with them. K
