Frame swap

picked up a 1964 c-20 pick up with a 230 6 cyl 3 spd .i want to lower the suspension i read on this site about the dropmember and z-ing the frame. then my brother gave me a 1988 c-1500 pick up in rough shape .i pulled the cab and bed off and i am going to use the chassis from the 1988. i am going to channel the cab because the floor and cab mounts are rusted out.the front i guess dropped spindles and air bags will get it down. what could i replace the leafs in the rear ? here are some pictures of the truck and current project.

Re: Frame swap

Pics? Don't see any....

Need to check with your local DMV to see how you will need to register your truck. Here in Nevada its the frame they check, and anyting 67 and older is smog exempt which is a real bonus, especially when modifying.

Its too bad it is not an 87 or older as most of the running gear is an easy swap. But hey you got to go with what you got.

Throw up thempics so we can check it out.

Re: Frame swap

Since you're not a paid member, you will have to upload them to a hosting site such as Photobucket, or Imageshack, and then enter the url of the pic when you click the insert image icon above the text box.

Non-Subscribing Members can attach pics.
When you click the "reply to thread" you'll see at the top of the text box, a little paper clip. Click on that and choose the pics you want to attach. You may have to re-size your pics depending on how big the ones you have on your computer are. I usually have to re-size them to 50%. Hope that helps.
And, welcome aboard. Always nice to have another 60-66 guy !

Re: Frame swap

Sorry for the incorrect information. I thought that was one of the perks of a paid membership

Re: Frame swap

more pics please!
I was just wonderin' yesterday how hard it would be to swap a '64-'66 body onto a '88-'95 frame and running gear.
I was thinking 4x4 though.
