Another (Sorry) Speed Warning Question
Gang,
sorry for yet another speed warning question! Since my speedo head was damaged, I almost have everything to repair it back to pre-clumsy-carpetlayer brilliance. (long story) anyway, I have to replace a few more gear cogs behind the speedo head. could someone who has a loose speed warning speedo head look at something?? pleeeeeez? I need to know the amount of teeth on the 2 small cogs I have listed in the below pic. I have found raw plastic gears, but I want to verify the amount teeth in these cogs. they should be the same. with the help of Joe (joesjunk) and jaros44sr, I was able to locate 1 of the impossible to find cogs already. these two guys are great! rep points if I could.... and Joe is someone I can defintely hang out with! talk about knowledge and a cool basement!!!

Re: Another (Sorry) Speed Warning Question
just a thought.... does anyone have a factory assembly manual for speedometers? or is this type of assembly manual that was exclusive to the many sub contractor companies that produced sub assemblies for GM. (like Delco with GM electronic sub assemblies.)
Andy, any thoughts??

Re: Another (Sorry) Speed Warning Question
Does any of these look like they would work. I have a couple of old speedo with the warning in them. These are parts left over form building mine for the 71.
I will try and look tomorrow for you I have all the gears I'm pretty sure of.

Re: Another (Sorry) Speed Warning Question
Andy,
you could be a lifesaver. thanks for looking. I need the two cogs/gears that are 0.30" diameter with a 0.09" diameter center hole. I believe they will contain either 9 or 10 teeth. they fit on the pins I have marked (1) and (2) above. if I could give rep ponts, you'd get them!! thanks again for looking!

Re: Another (Sorry) Speed Warning Question
I'll look when I get up tomorrow. It will be after lunch time. I'm up most days around 1:00. I have more parts also just not got pictures. I'm pretty sure I have them because I have a old face with two gears on the back side of it. I'll post pictures also.

Re: Another (Sorry) Speed Warning Question
Here is mine in the 71. It works but I keep it up at 100 MPH all the time so I don't hear the buzzer all day long. I used a seat buzzer for it.

Re: Another (Sorry) Speed Warning Question
Well I looked @ my stash. I think these are the gear clogs you want. I know they came out of this speedo so they should be right.
Here is some more.

Re: Another (Sorry) Speed Warning Question
Andy, I don't believe those are the ones he needs. I have a speedometer from a speedwarning/speed minder/speed alert (whatever you want to call it) sitting right by my cpu. The cogs look different. I hate to crack mine open though cause I have never had very good luck removing needles on gauges. I will take the best pics I can and try to count the teeth for you. This is all I found in a junkyard for the speedwarning. It appears someone removed this dash long before so the reset knob and buzzer and wiring were gone, but the speedometer was still in tact with the pigtail coming from behind it. I am missing everything else, and have been looking for the parts to piece mine together one day. I am currently sanding on a truck outside, but I will try and get those pics for you Doug by tonight. Trevor

Re: Another (Sorry) Speed Warning Question
Andy,
Trevor is right, the gears you have pics of are the gears I have now. the two I'm in search of are smaller than those two gears in the pic with maybe 9 or 10 teeth. happpen to see anything smaller in your stash?

Re: Another (Sorry) Speed Warning Question
I didn't see anything else. I'll look again tomorrow but I think that's all I have. It's been so long ago that I put these together I may have used them in mine I honestley don't remember.

Re: Another (Sorry) Speed Warning Question
well Chris, I guess it could have went worse. the guy was a GM fanatic, builds some high dollar pro touring cars, owns a '72 Super swb, black on black and he has a '71 swb frame for sale with an air bag setup on it already. I guess he was reading my mind! so we got along right off the bat. nice.
I was up front and told the guy I wasn't out to screw anyone and if someone would have just confessed, I would have probably not taken it any further. I guess I watch too much CSI because I had pictures of the damage as found and a Paypal receipt when I originally bought the gauges. my ducks were in a row...... I asked for $250 for the damage. I have already spent $60, so I think I'm within the repair costs. Andy, thank you so much for trying to help. your a great forum mate!! Trevor, can you post a pic of your speedometer? I'd like to see what I'm missing.

Re: Another (Sorry) Speed Warning Question
I have a Garmin also and have thought about mounting it on my golf cart. It gives speed and tells you where you should be.

Doug, sorry it took so long tonight. Here are some pics to help you out. I can't really count how many teeth are on them as it hits the stop before I can count all the way around. Trevor

I would if I ever ran across a full speedwarning dash one of these days. For now, I think I will hang onto it. No problem on the help though, Trevor
