Exclamation speedometer question plz help

so today i started to sand the cab down and then i got to the dash
and i wasnt able to take the speedometer out i loosened up the screws in
the front and i was able to remove the wiper knob but not the headlight/dome light knob... are there bolts behind it that needs to be removed or is it just the screws on the front and possibly the headlight knob keeping it from being removed??? please inform me on what else needs to be done

thanks for your help

Re: speedometer question plz help

reach up and behind the light switch. on top of switch itself, you will feel a button. press down on this button and pull the light knob all the way out.

and there you go!

Re: speedometer question plz help

but first, you need to place the switch oin the parking light on position, then depress the buttin, and pull the knob. Some cussing and struggeling may be involved.
Then you have to take off the chrome metal bezals that sit behind the 2 knobs, the oil pressure line if it is a guage panel instead of a dummy light panel, and then the plug in. If the truck is an automatic, look for the fiberoptic cord that lights up the perdle (PRNDLL1) pointer. It is traditionally hoooked into the inst panel light to the inside of the fuel guage. Just twist and remove the whole light plug. Double check for a ground wire (and remove if aplicable) then tilt the top down and pull it out.
Sometimes you are better off dropping or just lowering the steering column down to make it easier or keep from scratching things up. (esp if there is a tach installed or your column is nice and pretty)

You also need to take one or the other cables loose of the battery or it will drain once you remove the switch.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

So THAT'S the *&%$#@ trick!!!! I pushed on that button so hard it almost pierced my finger! And I cussed and swore like a truck driver... I finally got it out so I must have passed by the Parking Light setting and just happened to pull at the right time!

I always replaced the knob after cluster removal... It is wicked easy to remove the second time without the cluster in the way.
