Single wall v/s Double ?
Hey guys,
I am getting ready to hunt down a top for my 1969 Blazer.. my question is, from your view, what is the most preferrable top and why ? To me the double is stronger, but heavier ??.. but I have never seen the two side by side.. what are your experienced opinions on this ? |

Re: Single wall v/s Double ?
i have a single wall top on my Jimmy, but my first blazer had a double wall and this is what i have found. call me crazy but i never noticed the diff in the weights, the single wall bolts down alot easier and is alot easier to fix if you break whatever the bolts bolt into! i never got to drive my 1st blazer but i would imagine that the double wall would seal better and stay better insulated in the winter. all that being said i perfer the single wall b/c of the ease of the bolting it on

Re: Single wall v/s Double ?
I can't vote as I just got my first Blazer w/double wall. Wasn't heavy for 2 large people. My question is there anyone that makes the glass for the rear hatch? I have been looking at plexiglass, the dimensions of outside gasket are 56X17" but I have not removed the glass yet. Anyone know the thickness of the glass so I know what plexi to get? Given I don't find in Junkyard or one of you fine folks of course.

Re: Single wall v/s Double ?
I think double are more prone to "waving" or warping in the roof... mayby more like a sag. Maybe single is more rigid?? Double wall tops are cheaper and much more plentyfull.

You can get one from a board member (a couple have already offered) or your local shop can cut you a piece of laminated glass or send a pattern to have a piece of tempered made for you. As for the original question, I like my single wall top, but you'll have to drill holes to mount one on your 69, since they only came from the factory with double wall.
