NY 70 Blazing Rookie

Hello all! I've been checking the site and finding lots of great info and sellers for the parts I need. Just towed the 70/72 Blazer 50 some miles from Rochester on Saturday. It may look familiar to some cuz I bought it from a member, won't say until some of you contact and ask him. Came with an extra, and better hood, tailgate, 2 doors and some patch panels. Is solid except drivers floor and front cab support. Just disassembled today and found motor is 305 and not 350 as thought, Anyone near central NY with knowledge of a cheap 350 or 327 (yeah right) give a shout out. Once this is posted I will see about directing a link to all pics on photobucket.

I am a near rookie as far as mechanic and body work. Luckily I have a virtual MacGyver as a nephew and his favorites are 350's in Blazer/ El Camino/ Early 70 Shortbed Chevys. I get to learn welding, fiberglass, paint(or at least the prep) and how to smash my fingers in too many ways. Thanks in advance for all the help you will bestow upon me!

I can't figure out how to put single pic so I linked to all of them. All the easy parts are off now so more pics soon, Thanks.

Talking Re: NY 70 Blazing Rookie

Pics at original link show stripped and topless! Heading to Albany in a.m. to get a '67 283 I won on ebay w/reworked heads and edelbrock performer intake for the low-low price of $67. I hope and assume several of the parts from the current 305 will transfer, starter is the question mark. Not an original offering but still a favored member of the family. Anyone w/knowledge of a low priced 500cfm 4-barrel carb let me know.

Went to 2 Harbor Freights sales w/20% off coupons(google Harbor Freight Coupon, sale thru Sun.) earlier so I'm about set to grind on some paint. Got The Works toilet bowl cleaner earlier,- saw onsite its use as rust remover/dissolver- and spray bottle, gloves and face shield so I'll post before and after pics of what it does to rust. Thanks for encouragement! I'm out, mombo
