lwb and swb frame
Does anyone have the specs for the LWB and the SWB frame? I was wondering if anyone has cut a lwb to make it a swb? And where did you make the cut? Thanks for anyinfo or pointing me in the right direction.

Well here's the story,When I joined in 2006 I had 1 of these trucks.SWB and when I sold it I sold all the parts that i had and told myself that I was out of them and moving to other projects.Well got the fever again for these trucks and since started rounding up parts and complete parts trucks,but so far no SWB frames.My goal is to put my TPI in my 71 lwb and make a every day driver,I've got a 70 1 ton with a 10' dump bed and I want to dial it up also,Then my goal is to fix up a swb street rod.But I have a lwb frame that I could trim down. So thats why I havn't posted anything even tough I've been a member since 2006 but i'm back and probably will have alot of questions .Thanks for the welcome.And it looks ans sounds like you fellows have alot of info and good advice. I recently cut my 69 3/4ton down into a swb (frame and bed).
Also, I installed a TPI 350 into my 72 GMC I had. It was pretty easy. I used a painless wiring harness and a frame mounted external fuel pump with the stock tank. |

Custom Classic Trucks magazine did a series of articles about converting from a LWB to a SWB. "Get Shorty" was the name of the articles. Check out their website and their archives to get the skinny.

wwas you satisfied with the TPI in the 72 or did it leave anything to be desired? I know the car that I pulled the TPI out of seamed to run pretty impressive for a stocker,just don't know what the wait difference will cause to the little mouse.
