Fuel tank size??

I have a 1980 C10 LWB (Big Ten) Model 350. I can not find how big my fuel tank is. I am assuming it is 20 gallons since I have stuck 18 in it before. Do our trucks only come with a 20 gallon tank or is it bigger? I have a single tank.

Re: Fuel tank size??

I believe the options were 16 gal or 20 gal.

My 82 Chevy and 87 GMC both had dual 16 gal tanks.

16 gallons for short beds, 20 gallons for long beds, and 25 gallons rear mount.

Both of mine were longbeds...

Maybe I just never let them get low enough but I am pretty sure they are 16 gal. Maybe dual tanks had the 16s even if they were long beds?

Re: Fuel tank size??

Most longbed dual tank trucks were 20 gallon tank trucks, but some were 16 as in the case of my old 86 C-10, it was a longbed with twin 16's.

Re: Fuel tank size??

if the tank doesnt go all the way back to almost the rear wheel its prolly a 16 gal
the rusted tank is 16 gal the shiny one is 20 gals
you can have 16 gal tanks on longbeds or shortbeds... i dont think you can physically fit a 20 gal tank on a shortbed... ive never owned a shorty

All my square body, long bed, 10-30 series pickups were 20 gal, single or dual tanks including the 3 trucks,(80, 86, and 88V30) I own now.

In 1986 the half ton trucks received the 16 gallon tanks with a gas engine. The diesel C-K 10's had 20's.

My SB 454 Big 10 came from the factory with one 16 gallon tank. Boy, that didn't get me very far.....
