LS1 W/ t56 tranny
i want to put a ls1 and a 6 speed in my 71 c10 has anybody done so or know anybody that has done so? My main worry is the transmission how much fab work will i have to do?

Sounds like a helluva swap. I'd think the tranny crossmember and the tunnel for the floor pan would be the hardest obstacles to overcome, other than the electrical wiring of the ecm. To the top!

www.pro-touring.com There is a lot of people that have done this type of conversion, and someone would be able to help, go to the classified section and look at the forums, don't know about the truck conversions, but them guys know all about the sizes and measurements to get things done right.. It would be easiest with one of GM's stand alone computer and wiring harnesses for the LS1.
The tranny needs a hydro clutch system, and mods for the crossmememer. Its gona cost you a bundle!

You will need custom motor mounts, tranny mount, rig up a way to actuate the hydraulics for the clutch, computer reprogramming( to eliminate VATS among other things), high pressure fuel system with return, new driveshaft length, a million other small details as well. How do I know?
