Just getting started.

Hi all
Just bought a 1964 Chevy C-10 Short Fleetside. Lots of work to do. Looking forward to getting info from you guys. For right now I'm just going through and seeing what I have gotten myself into. I've had a few projects in the past but I'm hoping this one will be a keeper. Wish me luck.

Re: Just getting started.

Thanks for the welcome.

Over the years I have had just about every body style Chevy truck. I started in the early eighties with a 68 GMC shortbed stepside 4x4. After that I had a 73 short stepside that I tore apart completely and and did a color change, a 4-6 drop, new bedwood and new interior. Later I had an S-10 Blazer but were not here to talk about that. I had a 59 short step that I didn't do much on. I wanted it to be a 55-57. Then I got an 89 short fleetide regular cab that I did a 4-6 drop on with a Bell Tech AirJack system in back. I had that truck for 10 years and sold it with over 250,000 miles on it. Great tight truck. never let me down. To make room for an our dogs I got a 93 extra cab short fleet. Redid the suspension and added air bags in the back again. To make room for my daughter I got a 02 X-cab short fleet that was dropped on 22" wheels. To get more comfortable I had to go family cruiser station wagon so no truck for about a year and a half. Now I picked up my dream build. Too bad I'm broke, but I should get over that soon and start the Slow Build.

Keep Truckin.

Looks like you have something cool to work with

Re: Just getting started.

Your truck sits great, what size tires and what drop does it have?

Re: Just getting started.

Looks like it will be a good truck to start with. I think we all know about the "slow build" syndrome Keep it up! Welcome from OK..

The tires are 275/60/15 all the way around.
The drop I don't know. I'll have to figure it out so I can duplicate it when I redo the front suspension. It's dropped with springs only so I'm basically using my swaybar bushings as bump stops. I might have 3/4" of front travel (but it doesn't ride all that bad). I want to change to a spindle + spring drop. But before I do that I need to figure out if I want to stay with 6 lug or change to 5. I'll go front disc either way which also means switching to P/B setup. I guess I'm going to sit down and have a talk with myself to figure out where I'm going with this. I'll start a "Slow Build" thread soon.
