Changing bed wood with bed on -

I want to change the bed wood on my short bed, but was wondering if it's a lot easier to take the bed off, or can you leave it on? I really don't have anywhere to put the bed while I redo it, so I would prefer to leave it on. Are there any problems with this?

Re: Changing bed wood with bed on -

As mentioned in another thread, I changed my bed wood without removing my bed but I have a stepside. I'm pretty sure it doesn't make any difference. It's a pain because you have to reach up way inside to get to the bolts that hold down the strips. You also have to fight exhaust pipes, frame rails and the driveshaft to get to the bolts. A long extension with a universal joint helps. Of course the bolts that hold the bed to the frame also have to be removed. I would imagine that if you had a lift it would be much easier. Sure wish I had one.
