Re: What did you get done 9-27-2009 edition

I worked this weekend but I did get a chance to do some truck stuff. Saturday I ran service calls until the afternoon. I spent the rest of the day detailing my 77. I got done around midnight.

Today I got up early and went to a local Rod Run. Plenty of nice cars/trucks and lots of old friends. It got too hot so I left before the awards.

Here's my buddies 61 Bel Air that he just finished up. More pics here- LINK

Paid my $25 to be a subscribing member. I was for awhile but, work got in the way. Called on a swb square driver I have been watching on CL. I had the cash money in hand to buy it, but the guy promised it to somebody else that was going to pay him tomorrow??? I have heard that before. I left my number with him if he does not sell it.

Re: What did you get done 9-27-2009 edition

I drove my daily driver up to Cars and Coffee Car show Saturday morning. Good show and a lot of high dollar cars. I'll try to get some pictures...my camera was on the fritz tonight and couldent get them off the camera.

I worked on my '84 for the first time since this spring when i parked it in storage. I got laid off recently so i might have to make it my daily driver soon if I don't find anything! All I lack is to finish the one piece window kit. Unfortunately they just don't want to work right for me. I took everything out of the doors and took the grinder to the inside of them again to help with clearance. I bought two more new power window motors hoping that that will help even though the ones that are in there are new too. Well after spending most of the day on them...still no luck. I'm lost...I'm starting to think that I should have kept the vent windows...Anyone in the Dallas area ever intalled and actually been able to get this kit to work want to lend a hand?? I definately could use the help on this one!! What did you get done???

Re: What did you get done 9-27-2009 edition

Got started on part 2 of the Heap Re-Do, the power plant. I had posted in the Heap Re-Do thread that I was going to replace the 250-6 with a GM 350 crate motor, well, there has been a change in plans. Details and pictures next weekend.

Spent Sunday relaxing and took the wife out for her birthday with a few of her close friends. Oh yeah, Bryan scored some major brownie points. LOL

Re: What did you get done 9-27-2009 edition

The '61 reminds me of my '61 I had in college, only mine was an Impala (and it wasn't nearly as nice).

I set out Saturday to trade both of our cars off. Everywhere we looked, no one would offer me anything for my car, so I decided to keep it. I did trade our Tahoe for a Lincoln MKX. My wife has been wanting one for a while, and it makes a great birthday present. The nicest part of that is that I somehow got her to loosen up on the "no toys" agreement we had, and buy my old Trans Am back, as soon as our rental house sells or re-leases. Anyone want to buy a house?

Re: What did you get done 9-27-2009 edition

Offered to go to the grocery store for my wife so I could take the truck to the car wash. Got the bugs off of it, took it home and cleaned the chrome and stainless on it and cleaned up a little under the hood. Found an oil leak coming from the timing cover area.

Then I got out the Sawzall and got rid of the tailpipes.

More than pleased with how it turned out. Updates the look nicely and no resonance in the cab. I was a little worried about that, but there's none. Surprising how it changed the sound. Definitely a more performance tone instead of a redneck glasspack sound. It is going to look even better when I get the 3/4 kit on and the truck isn't up in the clouds.

Only thing I'd do different is loosen the clamp where the tailpipe exits the muffler and bend it away from the frame rail so it doesn't rattle before I cut the tailpipe off. Now I've got no leverage and the tailpipe is stuck in the muffler. Would have been alot easier.

Re: What did you get done 9-27-2009 edition

I finished sanding then i painted the bed of my 85. I'm going to get a spray in bed liner one day but i have less than 2 weeks until Cruisin the Coast so i had to go with a less expensive way to make it look better. The sun was out today ( the first time in weeks here in the south) so i snaped a few pics as well.

Well I didnt get much done at home this weekend . It was county fair time here and we have had our animals at the fair since Tues . Judging was Thursday, worked late Friday , fair sale was Sat. ,etc. We did great at the Fair .
Today the shipper delivered the 76 Silverado that Dennis helped me purchase . I intended pics but I had family obligations today so not much was done with the truck , noit even pics . I will start a post with the pics of it in Tx.

I worked all day Saturday. Still nobody buying cars from me.
But today was great! Went to a good local get together. A bunch of members, and even a visitor. And, Dennis was "there" with us. Here are a couple for you guys. More in the CO forum.

Re: What did you get done 9-27-2009 edition

^^^ there we are again!! had a great time guys. Day dreamed all day at work of cruising through Colorado and looking at beautiful trucks

Worked all weekend but i did recieve my passenger side floor patch panel. i've also been researching for a good welder to buy so i dont have to borrow my neighbors. (i hate borrowing tools) I'm thinking a welder would be a great investment just like my air compressor was... Keep telling Amy, how is a guy supposed to do a custom frame off without a good welder!

BTW, Ken the '77 looks amazing as usual.

Re: What did you get done 9-27-2009 edition

I finished up the mirror install on the farm show truck with stainless hardware, and tried to re route the fuel line, first I cut to short the looked around the house for more then I was going to the part store I went a closed the garage door and went house and came out and notice the garage door went back up since some thing was blocking then I notice my dash I was going to fiber glass was stuck in tracks so I went pulled out the dash and hit the garage door opener, then part of the door fell of the tracks and noticed the track were all bent up so I got a couple neighbors to help me close the door kinda got down then I had to wait 5 hours for dad to get home just encase if the garage door feel I could shield my sisters 2 week old painted car and today a guy from my church game over and fixed it for us works better than it has in 5 years

Took my eldest daughter out to put some more miles on her learners permit. Found some more trees to plant in front of the house. Took my babygirl for her daily wendy's french fry mission. LOL. Contemplated washing the dogs. Had a huge yardsale.

Re: What did you get done 9-27-2009 edition

We ran all over the place spent most of saturday watching my sisters in law soccer games and then my nephews games. Went to to the chile fest to get a bushel of chilies then went to her cousins bday party. Sunday I pulled the Vstar apart to lash the vales figured with a year on it its about time. Im impressed with how easy everythig comes apart but the tappets dont make good contact with the valves kinda a / contact no wonder all these engines have horrible valve train noise.
