Re: Anyone ever seen one of these before?

There were said to be anywhere from 50 to 600 made. Many of which were 4wd, I have seen about 6 4wd ones. I dont believe any owners of 80-87 extcabs are on here, but here is the site.

If I remember correctly the company in TX is the ones that did them all in the first place. Maybe bigblock73 will chime in. He knows quite a bit information on them.

Re: Anyone ever seen one of these before?

Yeah they built quite a few of them. Not mass production, but more than just for execs. Seems just about every person that has one for sale tells the same story of how they have one of five or something like that. They are rare, but not that rare. I've seen three or four here in central Oklahoma in the past few years alone.

Re: Anyone ever seen one of these before?

It doesn't matter how many they made if the number is under 500 of each, it is technically collectable as far as vehicles go. BUT, collector vehicles have a wide varity of worth. You could have 1 of 2 of something and it might be worth $2500.00 but you might have 1 of 500 of something and it may be worth $50,000.00. It all depends on what it is and how badly someone else wants one. For example. I had a 1969 Yenko Chevelle SS. In the 60s Yenko got a bunch of new cars from Chevy, Novas, Chevelles, Cameros. And they put a L88 427 in where the 396 came out and did interior stuff, and exterior stuff. A 1969 Yenko Nova is more rare than the Yenko Chevelle's but at auction the Chevelles go for way more because more poeple like them so they are more collectable.

I think you should go buy it just because it is rare and cool. Not because it is really worth anything above a clean low mileage stocker.

This guy must think he has a 1969 SS/RS camaro! There is no way anyone will buy that truck for that price....he is one of those who has no idea about aftermarket modded vehicles...even if there were only 2 built, no way!

Re: Anyone ever seen one of these before?

Thanks Bob, and hello to both of you. Small world isnt it,lol. I have wanted to check this site out for some time now, but have been avoiding it for fear that I would find another website to become addicted too. Well, thanks to Bob, I caved, and now Im stuck. Its not that its bad, its just addicting and before I know it, there is two hours gone.
As far as the 4x4's, I have pics of 5- halfton 4x4s that are the orignal CVI trucks built in the 80's/ There are others, but not originals. The 3/4 tons are rarer. I have pics of two extended cab one tone duallies. I know the cabs are CVI, but havent been able to verify that the 1 ton dually part is.

I have documented 8 extended crewcabs, 4 with stock bed, and 4 with the Western hauler bed, and about 20 halfton 2wds. In all i have information on less than 50 in all versions, so I would still consider then pretty rare until more show up.

As far as being ordered for execs only, thats false. I know an original owner who still has his. His wife ordered it for him in late 85, and its the only toher 86 GMC that I know of. They were sold through dealers with factory warrantees just like you would get wil a conversion van or suburban. The problem in the people who built them, sold them, or ordered them new are almost impossible to find. I know one original owner, thats it. Im the third owner to both of my halftons. It doesnt seem like it was that long ago, but in reallity, theses were built almost 25 years ago. The people who are in the know, most likely arent surfing the web as they would be anywhere from 50-70 at this point. For those of you in that age group, please dont take that offensively, you know what Im talking about.

Welcome Rare. You came just in time. The ext cab conversion trucks have been a hot topic lately, and your knowledge on them will be greatly appreciated. That and pics of your trucks.
