Doesn't look too bad, either way. Is it running? Engine doesn't look like it.

Re: what are these

I'm still trying to figure out what we're looking for. The only thing I see on the frame that shouldn't be there is spark plug wires.

Re: what are these

My truck has the recall "fix" on the drivers' side. I found out on here that it is what was used with the cable to keep the engine from falling when/if a motor mount broke. Here's the recall letter, too. Don't know if the "guard" over the motor mount is there for that recall but the letter may help clarify. That shield at first seems to be related to the motor mount, but a closer look says (to me) that it is not attached to the mount. My eyesight may be at fault, if it is.

Re: what are these

The guard over the motor mount is a heat shield, I have the same one on my truck. I believe they came on trucks with a small block engine.

Re: what are these

Nice truck, junk the old engine and get a LS vortec, or better find a new wrecked truck for a parts truck and use everything, Chevys are pretty simple to work on of u got a donor vehicle.

Re: what are these

That's a 72 "Highlander" package. Those odd pieces are heat shields...not sure what they are shielding.

Re: what are these

Aren't there plastic rivets in the steering shaft holding it together? Maybe the heat shield is to prevent the exhaust heat from melting them? Maybe brake lines?
