fuel pump

So I just swapped out the straight six for a 350 in my 81' swb and everything went amazingly smooth. I go to hook up the fuel line to the 350 and notice two inlets on the fuel pump. My six only had one fuel inlet on the fuel pump and I only have one fuel line coming from the tank. Any ideas how to deal with this?

Thanks

Re: fuel pump

Try an older fuel pump. The one on my 62 only has one inlet and one outlet. Ask for one from the 60's.

Re: fuel pump

Could the extra be a return line? Just get a small block fuel pump without a return, 67-72 for example.

Re: fuel pump

The second inlet was in fact a return, so I just plugged it.

Thanks for the input!

Re: fuel pump

Had the same problem on a Chevelle. I plugged it and everything worked fine.

I think it may be a vapor return line.

My 78 K20 truck does not have one on it so when you have to replace the pump down the road ask for one from a 78.

Re: fuel pump

The smaller is a return line to prevent vapor locking.

Re: fuel pump

Thanks again, I will run with it plugged until I need another. I am still amazed at how easy it was to pull the old straight six and drop in a 350. The only thing I had to do was move the motor mounts up to the pre-existing holes above and get a new radiator with radiator shroud and lengthen 3 wires from the pre-existing wiring harness!
