67 C-10?
Hello from Finland!
Could somebody help me to find out what my truck´s model exactly is... So I just bought a truck which should be a chevrolet 1967 C-10 ˝ tons, but I'm not sure. Here is the info from the truck's ID -plate: G.M.C. TRUCK MAXIMUM GVW RATING 5000 VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER CS1590D PC10812A DD Original (maybe) Florida truck. I tried to decode it, but found some problems with the ID number. Now Truck have 454 TH350 and 10 bolt. Any help highly appreciated! Thanks in advance Timo Luoma PS. I need the info because I have to have a one kind of type approval when register it to Finland. |

well with my limited knowledge of the ID # decoding process. I gather that you have a 69 Panel Truck...I'm confused and going to bed.
Maybe you misread the numbers? or am'I way out there lost and confused? A 67 C10 would be something like: CS147A100099 So it's a 67 pickup made in Atlanta and it was the 99th one. right? D!m ------------------ BlueStreak 69 Chevy C10 - (Under Construction) pos_8@hotmail.com

Thanks for the reply Dim. Right and I'm also confused!
Numbers are correct but I found these numbers from the plate which was attached on the drivers door pillar. Is it the right place? I just noticed that there was a remark on the VIN decoder site (The Model Number is located on the inside of the glove box door) - I didn't know this yesterday and only picked up the numbers from the door pillar. Should these numbers match? The Florida guy who sold this truck to my friend said that it is a 67 and all the customs papers says 1967 etc., but maybe they are wrong or then I just have to find the right numbers...opinions and info, please Timo |

It is a GMC not a Chevy. The decode is not the same.

the vin plate should be located on the left door pillar, just below the latch plate, or above it, i'd have to look, sorry, i can't help with decode, does the option sticker on the glovebox door give any helpful info, such as matching vin # on pillar?

Thanks for the replies!
Maybe she really is a GMC but then she has a Chevy's front fenders and hood (Looks just like a Chevy). It's a possibility because she has been customized quite much by the guys is Florida. Yep the VIN plate was on the left door pillar but as you can already guess there was no option sticker left on the glove box door. Is there any special features in a GMC when compared in a Chevy? This is what I managed to find out from the doors plate (I used 67-69 GMC Model number Codes -> http://www.gmcpaulstruckparts.com/67-72_gmc.htm): C=2 wheel drive S=Six cylinder gas 1=˝ ton OD=Wide Side P=Pontiac C=1967 I just joined here yesterday and I don't really know much about these trucks - this is my first adventure to the world of trucks. THANKS FOR THE GOOD SITE AND OF COURSE THANK YOU ALL for helping the unknowing foreigner! Timo |

Other than the grill, and trim, the only differance on the GMC trucks was a small handfull of options. They had some that the chevys did not.

I got a copy of CERTIFICATE OF TITLE and that confirms that it's a GMC from year 1967. Does somebody know Carl Lee McCloud from Sparta Michican? He is the former owner of my truck. No side marker lites on the fenders. This kind of trucks are quite rare in Finland and now I'm a happy owner of one!! I put some pics on the net when I have decent ones. Timo |

You can also look at the frame rail on the driver's side beside the engine. The vin is stamped on the top of the frame. Just one more possible piece of the puzzle.

Truck is now almost registered in Finland but the Finnish authorities created a new problem -> truck is a original 6 cylinder and now has a 454, so I have to find out all the technical specs of the truck ( axle masses, measures etc.) Is there anything online or could someone just send me the specs via email? However they accept Chevy specs too...(it's a miracle!! Timo |
