will a later model A/C housing fit in my 1970 truck?

My 1970 C/20 has factory air, it also caught fire and melted a bit of the housing so I called a few guys who are selling parts and one guy told me that I could use an A/C housing form a later model truck stating that GM made them the same.

If this is true can anyone tell me what years will fit? I am sure the cable slide control levers must look different on the mid to later 70s trucks..no?
