Bowtie on grille

I have a 77 C10 and I replaced my broken original grille a couple of years ago with one of those "replacement grilles" that do not have a bowtie. Is it possible to get one of those bowties from LMC that are intended for factory grilles to fit my aftermarket grille?

I want my bowtie back, and I am having alot of trouble finding an original grille with bowtie.

Re: Bowtie on grille

The aftermarket grills are generally listed as not able to hold the emblem. That is not to be said it can not be done, they just usually do not have the mounts for it. You may be able to buy an emblem and fit it to it.
BTW: Nice looking truck!

Re: Bowtie on grille

There are lots of bowties on ebay that have been taken off alot of differnt trucks...find one that fits and make your own mounting for it.

Thats a really cool color combo on your truck. Is that like a light mint with dark red? Or is the sun messin with my eyes.

Re: Bowtie on grille

No, the picture must be afected by the sun and the green grass. The color is factory silver and maroon.

As far as the Bowtie...Ya'll think I could buy one of those grille bowties and fab a mount for my current grille? Has anyone tried that before?

Yes, I think you could. You could even get a billet emblem if you wanted to. However I think that would take away from the overall look of your truck.

Yea, I saw your thread awhile back, but I still haven't seen how you attached the emblem. Did you make a bracket? Do you have pictures so I can get an idea of how to fab one?

Re: Bowtie on grille

I wanted the emblem to be even with the front of the grill and angled up slightly like the stock grill, so I ended up with what is basically a U shaped piece of metal that the emblem is stuck to.

On the back of the grill, I have a piece of metal with 4 holes in it glued to the cross pieces in the center. There are 4 holes in the back of the U shaped piece that match up to the 4 holes in the grill. 4 screws hold it in place.

The U shaped piece is actually 2 L shaped pieces put together to make the U shape, with 2 screws on the bottom of the U holding them together. This needed to get the 4 long screws inside of the piece.

Didn't take any pics while I made it. Hopefully you can make some sense of all that.

You can see the U shaped piece of metal from the side shot.

Re: Bowtie on grille

I live in Arkansas and there's a perfect match in a local salvage yard. The only difference is, it has "350" on the right side of the bow tie. If your interested I can send you a picture.
