Pulled the trigger 68 C20 50th Anniversary truck
I am pretty excited about my new old truck. It is a 68 C20 custom camper 50th anniversary edition in its original gold/white paint job, still has its original 396 and th400. Every thing works other than the air conditioning, I guess the compressor needs a new clutch. Truck is originally from California and came up to Oregon in 2004 by the man I purchased it from. He still has the black plates that were on it!
Here are a few pictures of the truck, looks nice and solid to me and that is the original interior. LMK what you think. |

Re: Pulled the trigger 68 C20 50th Anniversary truck
Wow, nice truck!!!! Great find.
Curious, since I didn't see any pics of the rear end or the lug nut pattern, nor the non Custom badges on the fender (those would have a 10, 20 or 30 under the bowtie), is it for sure a C20? Reason I ask is everything I have seen, the rear body mount and bracket is very different on C20/30 then C10's. Yours looks just like my C10, hence the question. Again, nice truck.

It has the custom camper badges on the fenders and a custom badges on the doors. You know I just assumed it was a C20, guess I was wrong. It doesn't matter to me either way, I like the truck, its complete and there is next to no rust! |

Re: Pulled the trigger 68 C20 50th Anniversary truck
Nice truck I see on the cowl what looks to be shock mounts for the cab over camper my 69 has holes where those mounts are but the cab over camper preserved the interior just like yours I'll bet your bed floor is in good condition too.

Yes, those are from the previous owners cab over. The current owner had a bed liner sprayed in shortly after getting it. So I don't know what kind of condition the bed was in, I could only assume it was in nice shape as well. |

Re: Pulled the trigger 68 C20 50th Anniversary truck
Yeah, I guess looking again at my pics, they are similar but different. I swore I saw some pic of C20/30 ones and they were a heck of a lot different.
Here's mine, Either way, nice truck and I think you got a great price. It is clean, original and looks great. That is worth more and I would have bought it at that price!

Re: Pulled the trigger 68 C20 50th Anniversary truck
Hey guy's, thanks for all of the kind words.
Hopefully I will be able to go down on the 11th and pick her up. She has a long trip ahead of her. Bill the fella I bought it from did a map quest to see where his truck was going to. He say's to me "bring lots of money" and I said what for? He laughs and say's GAS! I am like oh what kind of milage does it get? He say's 12-11 mpg depending on your speed. Does this sound about right? Depending on the boarder crossing I use we will be traveling 1023-1259 miles. Now at 11 mpg I would need 115 gallons to get to Calgary! Looks like the average gas price in Oregon is 2.59/gal, so about 300 bucks to drive her home! Bill is going to take the truck in this week to give her a oil change and a once over for the trip. Good guy in my books! |

Re: Pulled the trigger 68 C20 50th Anniversary truck
Very nice truck. I also believe that it it a C20 I have a 67 C20 custom camper that only has the custom camper badge with no tonage number(10,20,or 30) One easy way to tell is lug # mine is an 8 lug which came on the 3/4 and 1 ton. but thats not always a sure fire way to tell cause the 3/4 tons came with either a 6 or 8 lug depending on the options your truck came with. the best way to tell for sure is look at the 3rd # of your vin. if its a 2 the its 3/4.
12-11 mpg would be very good gas ml. origanally mine had about 8 mpg. That is with a 327, 2bbl, stock engine, 3 spd manual. Now i get somewhere around 13-15. still 327 but has 4bbl, corrvette heads dual header exhaust and a 5 spd manual. Hope you have fun with your new truck |
