ram horn help...
So the passenger side manifold on Bessie looks like swiss cheese. All I can find are chinese made repop ramhorns on ebay and the local parts house wants 100+ for one with no guarantee its of any better quality than the ebay parts.
Soooo does anybody have any experience with these manifolds from our board vendors? Are they selling the same thing I can get off Ebay. has anybody used a set and had them last without cracking? Casting # is 3808968 RH1 Do I sound desperate?...

Re: ram horn help...
Put up your request in the WTB: Parts section of the board. Those old ram's horns are pretty common and cheap to buy.

Re: ram horn help...
A good friend of mine gave me 4 sets of manifolds....one for the later models, another off of a '56 265 that is just like what the early 'Vettes used and 2 more pairs. Look good hanging on the garage wall.

Re: ram horn help...
I bought a set of the ones on Ebay. They are identical to the stock ones. IMO, a great deal. I drive my truck daily, and no cracks/leaks after several years now. I made sure the mounting surfaces were smooth, and bolted them in with no gaskets.

Re: ram horn help...
Are the 'new' ones being built & supplied by Dorman products @ the local parts houses built in China?

Re: ram horn help...
The aftermarket manifolds are made by Stevens co. The are sold by many retailors like Dorman. I understand the quality is very good & I think they are made in the USA. There are many used ones out there & most are in good condition, except bthe studs will probably need replaceing.

Re: ram horn help...
Does anyone know the length and size of bolts needed for the ram horns and vortec heads? Do the Vortecs use 3/8 x 16 exhaust manifold bolts? I've searched and checked the faqs and can't find any info.
Thanks, Tony
