What's the best way to remove

House paint from my truck without ruining the paint? My neighbor decieded to paint his house and my truck was parked on my driveway (because I can't move no engine)and now there is all Like overspray all over it! He said he covered the truck up but I don't beleive him because there is paint all over the windows everywhere. The thing that pisses me off is when he said why do I care so much it's an old truck! I told him this truck was worth more than his 09 f150 just as is with no engine! Help!

Re: What's the best way to remove

I guess it depends on how rough your surface is and what kind of paint he used. If he used latex then it should clean off with water and elbow grease. If oil based then it may clean off with solvent. How could is the paint on your truck? Ask him to help get it off. That's the least he could do IMO.

Re: What's the best way to remove

He tried to say it wasn't him I told him it was because I can't drive truck and your the only one in this neighborhood who is painting and the overspray was the same color. Well I went to work and came back from work and he was washzing it with grease lightning I think he made it worse !I'm getting pissed!I told him just don't touch it anymore.

Re: What's the best way to remove

If it's latex, go at it with a scrub brush and a strong detergent such as TSP....perhaps your neighbor wants to make amends and assist you.......But more importantly, be a good neighbor since he may make trouble for you for having a nondriver on the property.

Re: What's the best way to remove

Obviously HE was not a good neighbor, so why should you give him the benifit of the doubt. Call the cops, file a complaint and then suit the guy and have a body shop fix it and send him the bill.

Re: What's the best way to remove

If it was mine, I'd be sending the neighbor the bill for towing and bodyshop work. Something similar happened to my dad's truck, they were painting a semi trailer next to where he parked and oversprayed his truck, and, as they should have, they immediately offered to pay for a body shop to buff it out.

Re: What's the best way to remove

what kinda neighbors you got, if i came home and my neighbor was washing my truck with greased lightning i would have released my dog after him. thats just crazy he should offer to have it buffed out and he also should have let you know he was going to be painting so you could have taken proper precautions.

Re: What's the best way to remove

I've tackled this problem before with oil-based paint overspray. I used 3M Cleaning Compound, followed by an application of 3M Wax. Paint came off rather easy and the paint job sparkled when I was done.

gee whiz guys, stop this suit crap! He obviously tried to make amends, get him to help you clean it up and share a beer with him while you do it. He may become a good friend and neighbor and you may show him the light on these old trucks. Remember, you may end up living by him for a long time so a neighbor who watches when you are not home is a good thing.

Re: What's the best way to remove

being this guy is a careless idiot id just find out from a body shop what they would charge for it to be done and have the truck towed there and done up then towed back and send the bill to the jerk neighbor..... a court will see it your way

Try a Clay Bar first, be sure to follow the directions. Those things work wonders.

Re: What's the best way to remove

try the claybar, look up automajic and get the strongest bar they have, i forgot what coior bar it is but they make 2 or 3 of them. then get the truck wet. use soap and water as your lubericant. dont buy the lube there going to try and sell you. you can use the bar on all suface's as long as its wet with soap and water. now if that dosent work go get some lacquer thinner and pour a small amount on a soft rag, then rub the overspray off with the rag. do not set the rag on the paint and let it set. after your done with it you will need to polish it and wax it. then had him a bill for your time.

From the description given above he did a terrible job of that, and he made a really stupid mistake in the first place.

For example, down at my shop my idiot neighbor is always making a mess in the driveway with broken glass, screws, drill bits, razor blades, etc. First time I get a flat tire he's getting the bill and if he doesn't like it I'll drill a hole in all four of his. I wouldn't let him buy a patch kit and try to fix my tire himself.

Re: What's the best way to remove

I have mothers clay bar in my garage I'm going to try out first and I don't know what i'm going to do if it doesn't work! I don't want to get the law involved because he's cool like when I throw parties and stuff he doesn't care about the noise like the old neighbor . I don't want him to become a ass just for a stupid mistake he did. Well hopefully it works!!!I have to wait till tomorrow my day off.

Clay bar will do it. As sangermike just use soapy water as a lubrcant, a clay bar the paint away. Wash, wax and enjoy.

Re: What's the best way to remove

Rubbing compound will take the overspray off. The claybar will probably work too. I personally would avoid lacquer thinner.

Re: What's the best way to remove

well i think i would do wut i can to not invole the police. but on the other hand he should be more than willing to help you fix it as well. I mean thats the least he could do cause u didnt do this to ur truck he did, right?? It shouldnt become ur problem because of someones lack of planning. IMO

Re: What's the best way to remove

Thanks guys the clay bar actually worked!now I just need to buy a new clay bar because I have to do the whole truck since all I had left over was a little piece.I'm going to talk to him to see if he would at least pay for the clay bar kit because that clay bar kit runs about $20 Thats the least he could do.
