Re: Craigslist, what do you think?

I'd be interested if it were in the low to mid 2k's.

The bed to me is a big red flag. Why would someone replace it? My first guess is that it was prolly slammed in the rear...

If there aren't any surprises it would be worth the money.

Re: Craigslist, what do you think?

Looks cobbled together, the GMC bed doesnt match the Chevy cab, the drivers door is missing the trim. Wires hanging out from under the dash, etc...I'd look it over real good and require a test drive before making a deal...

Re: Craigslist, what do you think?

Maybe they swapped the bed due to a rust issue. It is in the north east

Maybe, the truck is 'bout 30 miles from me, rust really isn't a huge issue around here...it rains alot, but no snow/salt to deal with....But we do have our fair share of folks patching together vehicles to turn a buck...

Re: Craigslist, what do you think?

its also a 40 yer old 4X4... the bed could have been worked to death and had a sagging floor, it could have been out running the trails hard and smashed into a tree, Even in the saltless climate of the PNW you still have rust... I can show you a few holes on my washington suburban, lived there it's whole life till 2 years ago.
If you's look for more than 10 seconds, it becomes obviouse that the wires under the dash are going to the speakers that are under the seat on the floor. :duh:
Its not like he is asking a whoile lot... it actually looks to be a fairly clean truck with the bed swapped.

Make that North West -- it's in Oregon. Still could well have rust issues, though...

I wasn't trying to be rude, but if you look at the photo, it is kinda obviouse.

Re: Craigslist, what do you think?

I think $3100 is way too much for a beater-mutt.

Re: Craigslist, what do you think?

You could take the bed off that truck and send it to the moon and I'd give that price for it as long as there isn't a hidden problem like a major frame issue.

1971 Chevy 4x4 with a 4" lift already installed, custom door panels and matching seat, a new transmission, runs and drives "great" and a front clip to kill for.

I don't know what beater-mutt means but we have different opinions on the values of these trucks I guess.

Re: Craigslist, what do you think?

If the body is really that solid, and it's a factory 4x4 that runs and drives, I think it's worth it.

I replaced my bed because the bed floor was swiss cheese do to it having a rubber mat in the bed for many years.

Re: Craigslist, what do you think?

I don't know how anybody can make a decision based on those pics. I've seen clearer pictures on the walls at Cracker Barrel. Go look at it if your interested in it it high enough off the ground you should be able to see if its been hit or something from underneath and compare the vin to the vin on the title then if you still want to pay that much for it go for it if you see something you don't like make it known and make an offer.

Re: Craigslist, what do you think?

Fer - Oregun it's within negotiation room. It would need a close and watchful eye. I tried selling a 71 4x4, everthing a guy would want - except the 292 and arm-strong (manual) steering and I could hardly given it away for 2500.00

Re: Craigslist, what do you think?

Thanks for all the opininons guys! And yes we do have rust issues here, or maybe its just these trucks. I just replaced inner rockers, rockers and cab cornes on my 72 project and the whole inside of that bed is shot (that one is my, or my dads bad)... I know the pics arent great but the interior looks decent other than custom,,(i like original), and if the body is strait, no hidden rust, and really just needs minor bodywork, i would make an offer of around 2500. They probably wont take that right on the site but i give them a number let them sit on it maybe... i dont need it lol just looked like a fun truck i wouldnt be afraid of "using"
