52/56 in springs, lift?
For any of you guys running 52's or 56's up front how much lift did you get when you made the swap? I'm sure this is already posted, but I couldn't find it.

I feel retarded for not seeing that thread myself. Now the answers bring more questions. Where are you guys pulling springs from? 1/2, 3/4, or 1 ton or all depending on year/options? How are you modding the leaf pack, romoving leafs, removing the over load spring? I'm concerned with the weight carrying issue because if this plan comes together my Cummins powered 2wd will become a 4x4. The motor weighs around 1100# fully dressed

Before you do a 52/56" spring swap, make sure you consider all the other associated costs involved with making sure everything up front is prepared for the additional flex.
Count on swapping to crossover steering, buying a high angle long slip front CV driveshaft, extra long brake lines, long travel shocks with new upper towers to mount them to. Also keep in mind that those long springs are far softer than your stock springs, and you will have a bunch of body roll / loss of handling to deal with, not to mention axle wrap issues. If you custom mount the springs and keep the axle in the stock location, then you should be able to re-install your front swaybar to help out a bit with a quick disconnect setup. I was planning on doing a 56" spring swap up front, but decided that I'd hold off and start buying pieces now while I am still running stock length 4" lift springs. I've got the brake lines, but in the mean time I'm gonna do crossover steering and get a high angle driveshaft, then spend the extra money and build a 4 link setup instead.

I thought about running a 4-link w/ bags, but I'm not sure how much work is involved and how hard it would be to get the axle to sit right.
