Re: What did you get done? Week ending 10-4
My Dad helped me remove the old cab and we took the rolling chassis to the car wash to get the 30 years of grime and grit off the frame. After we got the rolling chassis back into the garage, my Mom and Dad and my wife and I sat in the garage visiting and watching the rain.

Re: What did you get done? Week ending 10-4
I was on the road all weekend. Got up early Saturday and picked up a small trailer on my way to FT Worth. Went to the Goodguys show and spent most of the day there. Unfortunately I didn't get there till mid-day so getting quality pics was very hard to do with all the people in my way.
Saturday might I went to dinner with my buddy Keith (n2billet) and his family. I spent the night at his castle. (Thanks again) Sunday I went to Arlington to look at some games for sale. It rained like mad so I decided to load one machine in the Denali and let them deliver the rest. Pics from Goodguys- LINK

Great pics N2TRUX, thanks for sharing!
Cleaned up the garage this afternoon. Trying to get things ready for winter to put the truck in for hibernation. Met up with lolife99 Friday evening to configure some specs for future reference...

Re: What did you get done? Week ending 10-4
Nate (72BlckButy) was at my house friday night, so I got him to help me push my '86 Dropmember project back into my garage.
The rear Dropmember was installed last fall,... now it's time to get back to work on this project. I got the front clip removed and the engine stripped. It's ready to pull out later this week. I have a ton of cleaning to do. I had forgotten how much wiring and vacume lines these old trucks had. I will be posting alll my leftover parts in the "for sale section" soon. And everything will be dirt cheap. All of the stock 305 engine parts/accessories are for sale, along with the heater/AC box, complete front crossmember, and all the steering stuff. So if anyone needs parts from my '86,... send me a PM or look for my for sale thread.

Worked again Saturday...as always. But actually sold something! That seemed like a miracle. Then today went to church, we had a potluck (free food), and then came home and hung out with the family. And my 49ers won again!!!

Started fabing up brackets to run 3/4 ton calipers and rotors on a Dana 60 front axle. It will save me 46 lbs and I can still run a 15 inch rim.

Re: What did you get done? Week ending 10-4
I didn't get anything done truck related. My family and I spent the weekend at the NC coast. We went to a seafood festival on Saturday and hung out by a bonfire on the river with friends that night. Good times.

Re: What did you get done? Week ending 10-4
Howdy-
Got my order in from LMC so did a cooling system flog on the '76 Stepside we ( the wife and I ) found this summer. Started out to replace the hoses ( radiator upper/lower, and heater hoses) . Quickly progressed to "do I trust that crusty-lookin' waterpump?" & "may as well change the thermostat while I'm in here" . To remove the water pump easily, pulled the radiator- and added a short trip to Grumpy's for those rubber radiator mounting saddles (4). Throw in a new iron thermostat housing (original aluminum w bad corrosion), a new gasket and clean/ repaint the themostat housing "adaptor" ( Inline 6- bolts to the head ). Remove and trash the ancient added-on AC unit ( aftermarket, fabbed up brackets had squeezed the lower radiator hose almost shut- and the system had NO pressure in it anyway, aside from the sub-standard install done back in the day. System needed to go ). A bunch of scraper action to remove decades of accumulated crud from the front of the engine prior to reassembly. No leaks, but that was the point. Have gotten used to every job getting bigger than first thought! |

Re: What did you get done? Week ending 10-4
Mounted my new (salvage yard used) 88-98 spare crank holder on my 1977 C10. dont know if anyone else has tried this, but it worked well and got the spare tire out of the bed, without using the "bench press/floor jack" old holder.
here is a crappy cell phone pic. i ran the crank straight back and drilled a non descript hole just above the tag. works great. i have done a lot to my old 77, mostly cosmetic/changing its style from grandpa w/ the fishing camper to 40YO, raised in the 80's style. i'll do a "build thread" (though its not a real build) when i get done. new exhaust is coming soon and probably it for now. Was waiting on the spare for the exhaust.

Re: What did you get done? Week ending 10-4
Dident do much. Never been happy after I lowered my truck the tires hit the wheel wells on dips. Snagged some spring spacer kuckles out of the camaro sub frame we got for a friend and raised up the truck an inch in the front. Should help a bit once I get the subframe out of the bed I will get a good idea of where the truck sits now. Other then that did some running out of town. Sunday I spent cleaning the family room. Got my carpet cleaner back from the inlwas so spent sunday cleaning the family room. Took out the fish tank and deceided to be a man and move the piano into the spare bedroom. Life lesson just becasue one can move a piano by them self doesent mean they should. LMAO

I worked on moving into the house that I just bought. Made a few trips with the '87 before the pinion seal let go... I've only had the truck a week. Blah.

I port matched my Edelbrock RPM-O air gap intake to my ported Edelbrock Marine Oval Port cylinder heads... Feels kinda weird grinding on brand new shiny aluminum stuff! Hoping my 468 BBC screams when I'm finished with it all.

Re: What did you get done? Week ending 10-4
I met some random guy at tha gas station while I was gettin some gas and he walked over and said how much he liked my truck and that he has a truck just like it at home and it turns out that he lives 2 blocks from my house!!! so I went to his house and we worked on both of ours pretty much all weekend. It was cool.
