Look what followed me home.....

1984 GMC sierra has the typical cab corner rust, but the doors are perfect the front fenders are good, just not sure if they are aftermarkets or stockers that where primed yet, I know the hood is aftermarket.

Re: Look what followed me home.....

well decent day at the junkyard, got a good set of drivers door hinges off a suburban , a couple of temp senders for my gauge, and all the chrome trim that goes around the grill, and found a brand new set of A/C delco wires on a 85 chevy truck that was a CFC victim and a good hood release cable. Also found a perfect bench seat out of a suburban that I will use the covers and foam off of to fix mine.

Re: Look what followed me home.....

Looks like a good project start. Just curious, how far did you pull that on the S-10? Sounds like you have good momentum going for it too, keep that up.

Re: Look what followed me home.....

Yea I'm interested Do most of my shopping at Chesterfield Auto parts , yea it was cold, I also picked up a dual headlight conversion too from a guy, for 100 bucks. Couldn't wait to get that crappy grill off and get the new one installed..lol

Also got my timing issue figured out, it was spark knocking if i set the timing any where near 0 degrees or more at idle, come to find out it was pulling 46 degrees advance at 2k , way to much so I swapped in a different vac advance can with a shorter stroke and now i have it at 4 degrees advance and no problems and only pulls 34 at 2000rpms. its doesn't drone as bad in the cab now as it did during the vid with the timing all retarded.

Nice. I have seen the small trucks pull full sized loads over and over again. Always make me chuckle. Not bad for a short trip, but I still don't like the idea outside of around town, or back road type trips. Nice grill change too BTW!!

I assume from all the other work you have been doing that you fixed this?

I had one do the same thing. Was it the ignition switch down on the column?

Re: Look what followed me home.....

I picked up a used 350 out of a 87 conversion van for a couple of hundred bucks, it was clean and had the one peice rear main and the crappy swirl port heads but not cast for a roller cam like most of the 86 and up SBC's but it was clean and runs good .

LT1 swap is planned for the summer.
