67 C20 - What size tires can I run on 7.5x16 rims?

I have a 67 C20 with stock rims on it now that total 31 inches with the tires (245/75/16). I just found some aluminum 8 hole rims that are 16x7.5 and would like to know what size tire I can run on them. I would like to put a wider tire and make them 33 or 35 inch. My truck rides at stock heigth. Can anyone help? My buddy told me I could run 305/70/16 for a 33 inch ride and 315/75/16 for a 35 inch ride....is he right?

Pretty much... looking at BFG All Terrains, 305/70-16 is 33" tall, and 315/75-16 is 34.6".

Sizes will vary slightly from one brand to another. You can usually check the manufacturer's website for detailed information. And you can go to places like http://www.tirerack.com/ or http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/home.do to see what they have and get specs on different tires. TireRack also has ratings on their tires.

I'm running 265/70R16's on 16" x 8" rims on my C-20. They look good and my speedo still works accurately.
