Temp. Light
Question: I have a '72 Chevy stepside with a 350 engine in it, my question is what controls the Temperature Light that is located on the fuel gauge?? Where does it get its signal from? The stock temperature gauge works fine but just wanted to know if the light worked. Thanks in advance!!!

There should be a wire dangling under the hood somewhere that went to the temperature "switch" for the idiot light. I'm not sure if this wire is there if you have stock gauges. My dash originally is all idiot lights. I added a gauge package but still used the idiot lights for oil pressure and temperature.

The temp sensor is usually in one of the cylinder heads. I think the wire is dark green and if you ground that wire the light should come on.

if you have the acc guages, then the light is not hooked up

So if I have a functioning stock temperature gauge in the bezel, the light will not work and not turn on?

its not hooked to anything. There is no sensor for it. And while I have not looked in the harness specificly for it, I will say I am 99.9% there is no wires for it in the harness.
