I haven't posted in sometime, I have got a ton done and need to post pics. Maybe tomorrow, I have to work late tonight.

For the question. I know that a 9 inch will never bolt in without changing the brackets, but has anyone found one that has either a 5 on 5 or 5 on 4-3/4 lug pattern and is the correct width or maybe a few inches narrower?

Also, is the search function broke? I can get it to do anything.

I got one out of a 73 Mercury Marquis. Has a 5x5 bolt pattern.

I got one out of a late 70's Lincoln Versalies. These also have disc brakes. They are fairly common to find at swap meets.

How do you set the pinion angle for these rearends? Is it possible to set the required angle with the bed off(without the weight of the truck).

Most guys I know that have done this swap just set the pinion back to the stock setting for the 12-bolt. They put the pinion yoke @ plumb & measure the angle of the rear brackets on the 12-bolt rear. Cut the truck arm brackets off (or get new ones). Set the 9" housing w/the pinion yoke @ plumb & attach the brackets @ the same angle as they were on the 12-bolt. Tack them in place. Re-check the angles & if everything is good, weld them up.
