77 Blazer tailgate handle?
I hope this hasn't been covered before, if so sorry... The manual window setup is giving me fits.
I'm trying to reassemble the thing and have no idea how it should look. The pic below shows the parts I think are needed. If you can tell me how it goes together I'd appreciate it. Thanks

Re: 77 Blazer tailgate handle?
I don't remember exactly. I got a parts brake down from a gm dealer when I ordered some of the parts. I had my mom machine a pawl from aluminum instead of using the new gm unit.
I think the white piece is a key that goes into the handle. The spring goes in first, then the key. The tabs on the pawl go over the bar for the window. The picture in the upper lef corner kinda helps.

Re: 77 Blazer tailgate handle?
I'll see if I have time to take mine apart. Grandpa broke the handle off years ago when he was trying to roll the window up before a rain storm. I was kinda mad, but he was trying to help and he hit his hand on something when it broke, so it was kinda funny too. I told him to leave it alone the next time, because the floor has drain holes, or maybe its rusty.

Re: 77 Blazer tailgate handle?
These are pictures taken from a gm service manual. I don't know it they will help. I had to take a pic of the diagram. Edit: 10/12 I I looked at taking mine apart. Once I got the window out of the way I couldn't get the regulator to move to get at the nuts. It is snowing out right now so I'll have to wait for a nicer day to try it again.

Re: 77 Blazer tailgate handle?
Thanks again for the help...ever little bit gets it closer to assembled. I don't know about yours, but mine has WAY to many drain/rust holes. Top, bottom, and most all the sides. But that's a project for later.

Re: 77 Blazer tailgate handle?
Yes, mine needs new floor pans and bed floor. I put a new bed floor in a '87 jimmy for a guy that turned out pretty well. I had a local sheet metal shop make a new ribbed floor from 12 ga. galvanized for about $300. It had to be in two pieces for the to do it. the only problem was it did not have the flat parts around the wheel tubs and at the front and back of the floor. He really didn't care. It was better then what he had and was solid.
