1977 K10 sagging in rear a bit

OK so my 77 K10 is sagging a little bit. Mostly in the rear and more so on the pass side. I have no clue how old the shocks currently on there are but was planning to replace them anyways regardless of the issue at hand. My question is aside from the shocks is there a inexpensive way to go about solving the sag? I would love to bag it but thats not in the budget right now and wont be for some time. Is there a good way to fix it aside from replacing the the whole leaf assembly or is that the best way to go? Any info would be great or any websites or someone to contact for replacement parts would be great too. heres a 2 pics so you can kind of see what im talking about. Thanks everyone take care. Also if what im thinking is sag but really isnt please explain as why it looks sagging. Thanks again

on the cheap, and I only suggest this as a temp fix... loosen the U bolts on that side and insert a block between the leafs and the axle tube on that side. use a bunch of plates stacked until it's level, then measure that thickness and use one block that thick.

Is it just sag, or is there a busted leaf in the pack?
A close inspection should tell you. Compare left and right side.

I just did a couple leafs on the front of my K-20, I don't know why, but after 35 years they just didn't want to hold up the snowplow well.

I think the u-bolts and center bolt ran about 50 bucks, I don't remember what the springs out of the junkyard ran me. I took apart the spring packs and took/changed what I wanted.

You probably have a spring issue, cracked leaves or just over-all sagging. A closer inspection should help you. Junkyard springs may be a bit "hit or miss" though. You could end up higher on the low side....


Just an FYI... Shocks do not support any weight, they have no bearing upon the ride height of the vehicle. They are there to dampen/slow the natural bounce of the springs.

OK cool il have to look into it and see whats up. i do understand that about shocks i just mentioned them because mine look so used and abused. now i know a junk yard is hit or miss so if i wanted to spend a little money whats the best way to go? when i say spend im trying to keep the budget down as mentioned before but am open to ideas that are not expensive at this time. any idaes and input will be very helpful

actually shocks can raise it ever so slightly

its not actually raising it but more of a taking up slack in the spring

Unless you are talking about an "air shock" or some kind of "coil-over" helper type thing......no, "normal" tube type shocks do not support any weight. They don't provide any lift.
