Just got done hauling roughly 800-1000 lbs of hard wood on 3" drop springs. On the bump stops...

Does anyone make a say, 3/4 ton drop spring or something with some decent load capacity? I know helper air bags or what not is also an option.

you cannot add more coils as they would get coil bind and the coil overall height is so short that they have to be a stiff ride

Maybe use drop springs for a burb. I posted a picture here before on the difference between truck and burb...its substantial. Stiffer than truck springs but probably not as stiff as 3/4 ton...course thats just a guess on my part =)

I noticed no one mentioned moving the bump stop.

Seriously, you could notch it.

Also, you could run coilovers. I know others might say the shock mount points weren't meant for that stress but my dad ran them for years on his 66 coil truck with no damage.

I'm not looking to let it sag more, the idea is to have load capacity so when loaded I'm not leveled out or saggin

I would think drop springs should still be capable of functioning at the rated capacity. Did you actually weigh your load?

You might verify again with about 5 200# buddies in the bed and measure for clearance.

If you have clearance, then the loads you want to haul are overloading the suspension. Just beef it up. If you want both worlds of low and load then the best way to go is with bags.

You may be able to find the ones that fit inside the coils and use a tire valve inflator pretty cheap.

A pallet of hardwood floors, floor company said between 800-1000 lbs. Only takes roughly 500 lbs to level the truck out, or a few friends on the tail gate.

The lowering 'burb springs seem like a happy medium. I rarely have to haul as much as I did yesterday, but getting rid of the squat with any load will make my day.

I've thought of helper bags, if their as cheap as lowering springs... I can sell my current 3" springs and run the stockers while the new ones ship.
