My box is in bad shape lot of play, output shaft wiggles.

So I need something to replace it. I may have a line on a power set up, but is there a 'bolt on' manual box from anything else?

Edit truck is a 63 Chevy..........

You'll be happier in the long run with the power steering conversion. My manual box was bad when I bought my truck 17 years ago, and the rebuilt unit I installed was almost as bad. As far as I know nothing will be a direct bolt on except 1960-66 Chevy/GMC. American Classic and perhaps others sell a rebuilt unit if you prefer to keep it stock:

We sell rebuilt boxes "fairly Low priced" and our cores are not that high. I would put power steering on it w/o even giving it a second thought. Get a good GM 605 box off a mid 80's truck and get the adaptor plate to mount to the frame. Rez Engineering sell the plates and some of the board vendors here sell them to. Easy Installing the box. You will need an intermediate steering column shaft to bolt to the existing column ,a new rag joint. Or you can make your own shaft but its more work.
Don't know what eng you have but then its just mounting the pump and running the lines. Do a search on here. There have been some installs. Its one of the easiest and best upgrades you can do. Sorry i did this fast as I am about out of here tonight

I would convert to power steering as well, unless you are going for a factory correct restoration.

If you are going with a factory restoration, then go with Power-Assist steering.

No resto, just want simple.

The manual (hard to turn) part is ok with me, but would like to have a quicker ratio. My other truck has manual.

I DO NOT want the Gm 'just like driving a boat' power steering I remember from the 70's and 80's.

Truck has a SBC so PS should be easy, still work not related to the problem I have. Adding 10 parts to fix one?

Not on the same subject but, Many of the old GM manual boxes left over when power steering came out ended up being used as 90 degree Gear Operators on valves in chemical Plants. You still see them on occasion.
