Has anyone done a install on dual rear shocks on a 73-87?? Looking at getting the brackets from skyjacker but wanted some pics first, an knowledge of how it rides??

I bought the brackets and never installed them.So,the only advise I can offer is don`t do what I did.

I had dual rear shocks on a 84 back in 84 no pics but it made it ride better but with shock tech now days you really don't need dual shocks unless you are going for looks.

If you do dual shocks get shocks that are valved for duals. Bilstein makes some I know. Otherwise unless your haulin weight all the time, it will ride poorly.

I like the dual look but not the ride. I bought the Bilsteins but haven't driven it yet, and it might be awhile before I get to.

PS. I think the skyjacker bracket is kinda cheesy. I got a pair, then decided to weld some premade mounts on and ebayed the skyjackers.

why go duals?

It's purely an off-road racing thing, not necessary on the street of for the typical trail riding/rock crawling. As has been said, it will make the ride worse unless you get shocks that are either adjustable enough to compensate or are or valed to be run as duals.

I have seen as much as triples on the rear and duals on the front...on the street. All show.

It`s mostly common,when multiple shocks were more used,to see multiples on the front to even out the dampening since the motor/trans/cab all bear on the front more than rear.I like the idea of mounting both shocks forward,like on re-73s as well as current trucks.There are better ways to control wheel hop.
