Got my seat back

I recently recieved my seat back from the upholstery shop and it turned out great. I decided to go with the hounds tooth inserts since all vinyl is hell here in TX. Now I need to decide what to do with the door panels...

it would be sweet if you could cover the door panels with the same material

Re: Got my seat back

How about the black around the perimeter and the houndstooth insert, similar to the seat?

Re: Got my seat back

Thanks!
Thats what the owner of the shop suggested....said he could fill the inner part of my door panel now with the same material. I just don't know about having cloth where your hands are reaching for the handles all the time. May get dirty.

I am a big fan of houndstooth material but have yet to put it in a project. The seat turned out great.

Re: Got my seat back

That seat is just awesome.....reminds me of my '68 Camaro. I really like the houndstooth also. I didn't realize until recently that the houndstooth was available in the '67-'72's. I'm definitely going to have to have a seat like that someday. Thanks for posting this

Re: Got my seat back

Hounds tooth was also available in the '60-'66. Here is a picture of a '64 Chevy C10, I sold to a friend.

As far as hounds tooth on the door panels centers getting dirty, a good coat of 3M Scotchguard will prevent any staining. I suggest doing the same to the hounds tooth on the seat. My pants are usually as dirty as my hands, so if one area gets dirty, so does the other, but I try to make sure I am not dirty when I get into one of my trucks with a freshly upholstered seat.

Re: Got my seat back

Yes, I already put a couple coats of scotch guard on the cloth, stuff works great. TX, I had a shop in San Marcos do it, Gabriel & Son. They also do high end custom work. They had a couple 3 window fords in there last time I was in. Nice work indeed!

Thanks for the comps! The guy did it for $400,(I had the cushion) and when he called when it was ready, he said cash is better...

I'll have to talk to my local upholstery place then. I was asking because the last seat I did cost me right at $300 doing it myself. I can't imagine that my local shop would be too much higher than what you paid. Man, that does look nice with the houndstooth.
