Anyone know?

What years distributor will fit my '72 402. I need to go to the junkyard to get a distributor to make an oil pump primer. I do not want to use a screwdriver as it will not send the oil to the upper end. I'm too cheap to spend for overnight ship from Summit. Thanks.........

Re: Anyone know?

Sorry...........NO junkyard will talk to me unless I give them a year(s) that will fit. Anyone know the latest year that will fit? Or will ANY BB or SB fit from '72 up?

Re: Anyone know?

I don't know what quality but I saw one at Harbor Freight the other day. If you have one in your area it should be on the shelf. Yes, any 72 and up Chevy V8 dist will physically fit. I use an old points type to prime mine and have used it on a new crate engine with 2pc rear main. That style block was up to 86 I think. It should interchange in reverse too. HEI to older block.

Re: Anyone know?

I got one just like this from Summit a few years back for 25bucks I doubt you will get a dizzy for 16.50 plus shipping and you still have to rework the dizzy. Look on page 24

Re: Anyone know?

If you want to make one get a points style (smaller diameter than HEI and they will probably pay you to take it since the demand for them is zero)) from 1955-1973, small or big block.
