Roll Pan
Does anyone know of a company that makes a front roll pan for an '85 GMC pick up? I want to elimante the front bumper to give it a throw back look of the 1960's race cars.

With the Grant one you are mostly paying for the custom bumper you get.

I was after the same idea, and made these push bars at work. Sent them out to be plated. Get lots of compliments. |

Re: Roll Pan
I'm not a big fan of front roll pans, but that would go well with your truck.

Yeah me either... I think it might be pretty neat but then I would have to make one for the rear as well. I think if it were a little taller and rounder it would look better on the 73-80's. Also I think the squareness of the bumper they have built lends itself more to the 81-87 body style. I'd be curious to see how well it would mate with the different style splash apron of the 73-80. The earlier one has a much bigger "kick" in it to meet the rounder bumper. and it looks like they are using the bumper to cover it. I'm also not big on the idea of welding my fenders together with a fairly flimsy piece of sheet metal; or welding my fenders together at all. Last edited by smashingchuck; 10-15-2009 at 11:08 AM. |

Re: Roll Pan
Well, with the only picture of it we have it just looks to me like the bumper needs to be taller to fill in some of the void created below it. Or space it down some and center it but i know the reason its up so high it to cover up the factory splash apron.

Re: Roll Pan
To mkae it look right you would need to section the bottom of the fenders and the pan an inch or so. That would pinch the front a little and resolve the thing bumper issue.
Of course that would lead to the need to shrink the wheel opening a bit. Kinda like what Jason Hill did on his latest version of the Blazer.
