Stock Heater box alternatives?
Does anyone know of a way to do away with the stock heater box under the hood On a 66 and move to a smaller one or a possible in dash one? I'm not sure if there are any options out there so i apologize if its a dumb question...
Thanks!

Re: Stock Heater box alternatives?
One of my trucks has the stock under dash heater. It's called the "economy heater option" and it does not intrude into the engine compartment at all.
It just has two block off plates.

Clean set up. Do tell where you got it and the block off plates.

Re: Stock Heater box alternatives?
It's stock for my truck. This is what trucks got that didn't have the deluxe heater package.

I also have the stock economy heater in my 1960 GMC. I got mine on Ebay. I also see the block off plates there every once in a while.

Re: Stock Heater box alternatives?
If I'm not mistaken, those recirculating heaters were only available from '60-'63. They were intended for areas that don't get very cold,as they don't do the best job in very cold and damp conditions. I haven't seen them in the '64-'66's from the factory.

Re: Stock Heater box alternatives?
Here is a link to a couple of small heaters used for Hot Rods. About as basic and simple as it gets.

Re: Stock Heater box alternatives?
I bought mine from Old Air Products. Complete underdash heat and AC. It is somewhat expensive but not as bad as some of the other companys, works very well. I don't have any picks on my computer but it is pretty clean in appearance. It includes a block off plate for the old heater box as well.

Re: Stock Heater box alternatives?
Try looking in the 55-59 second series trucks. They have almost the exact same heater.
