Re: Air compressors??

For simple, cheap and reliable the Firestone (Thomas) compressors are hard to beat. If you want bigger, better, faster look at the ViAir units.

You don't really "need" two, but it's nice to know you have a back up in the event of a failure.

I got two Viair 380s and two 3 gallon tanks.....

Works pretty well, but I may get another tank and/or a couple AZ compressors.

What's your fill time with two 380's. I have been considering adding another.

Re: Air compressors??

I Hate my 480c Viair, never any problems, but it and a 5gal tank just plain sucks lol. It's fill time is atleast 10mins. I'd add another but I'm going with an engine driven and be done. I have a 155psi switch and I want more play time and a faster fill and 155 isn't cutting it. I go two Viair 480's or a smaller tank for faster fills. My vote is Viair or Air Zenith.

Re: Air compressors??

I have 2 viar 480's and 2-3 gal tanks w/ a 200 psi switch and I can lift the truck to ride height 3 times before they kick on, but i drive pretty low. This set up seems about perfect for normal usage. The oasis takes a ton of juice to run and probally isn't necessary unless you are gonna be playing with the switches a ton.

1 Viair 480 with a 5gal tank. Takes about 3 minutes to go from 110 to 145psi.

Re: Air compressors??

I gave $30 for my York at a swap meet, made my own bracket. A buddy of mine ran a york in his off road rig which was belt driven from an electric winch motor. It was all mounted on a wood board in the back of his Bronco, it worked great. Homemade Oasis basically for alot less money.

Re: Air compressors??

So, time to weigh in with a likely silly question. Twin comps and dual bottles - are they plummed seperate. one forward one aft? or are they cross fed? Are you tying them with a valve that seperates them for an emergency cross-over?

Most people tie them together. No need to complicate things.

Re: Air compressors??

I'm still running an Air Zenith OB1! had it for years but it has been rebuilt once. I am definitely a fan of AZ stuff. I also have a 5 gallon tank and the pressure switch is adjusted at 150 on, 200 off. Good recovery time. I also run nitrogen. I like to play. A lot. Next I am doing a york 210 and the AZ will find a new home in one of my other projects.

I have a york 210 running 180psi and a 5 gal. tank your going to want to add another 5 gal and it would be perfect. oh and you dont need the 450 to run airhorns you could run them off the york.but yea keep the 450 for backup just in case i kept my electric for back up.
