Front spindles
I bought a 63 gmc i am in the process of bagging it. The guy who i bought it off of told me that it had a mid 70's van front end. Control arms and brakes. But it has a small gm rotor on it which is 5x4.75 which is a s10 bolt pattern. I put it up to a 76 spindle off of a c10 2wd. They are the same except for the length of the shaft and the diameter.my rotor is to small to fit on that spindle. The casting number off of my spindle is gm 256. Can anybody help me. Thanks

Re: Front spindles
So if I understand correctly, you are wanting to put the smaller 5 x 4.75" pattern rotor on the '76 C10 spindle? What are you trying to accomplish by doing this?

Re: Front spindles
Some vans had the smaller car stuff (5x4.75" spindle/rotors). I don't know of a 'direct swap' dropped spindle. You could try an S10 or the mid size A/F bodies. Are you locked into the small car pattern? If so, the Lt. Duty 81-87 GM truck spindle is available in dropped form (Bell Tech) & you can use 5x4.75" brake stuff. It does not utilize the HD larger 1.25" rotors that trucks are better suited for (they use 1.00" rotors), but they are still considered 12" brakes.
