Bumpers: Repro or Factory - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Anyone bought any repro bumpers & didn't like the quality or fit? I found some factory new & want to know if it's worth spending the extra $$. Thanks in advance, Scot

All depends on who did the plating job on them, and the quality of the finish. I would consider the originals first if the plating on them looks like a good job and the price is within reason. The repops all seem to be coming from the rice country! Not real good quality and fit, if you want really nice pieces. Find some good straight originals and a GOOD CHROME shop and have them replated (triple plating if possible) and have them do the backs also! I have been told the originals have more metal to them than the repops. Just my opinion. I try to buy made in the usa first.

Jackpot! I found a 84 & later smooth rear blazer/burb bumper @ the local chevy dealership. In the box, brand new, 200$. I found some 're-finished' bumpers for 150-180$ so I think I did ok. He's going to get me a matching front next week.
