Re: egr valve

You can take it Off. But you need to make or buy a block off plate. You need to watch out for pinging more offen.

Re: egr valve

It will not pass emissions if they test in your area though.

Re: egr valve

Howdy-
If you take it off, and you live in the Phoenix Metro area with the truck registered here ( I live here too), it WILL NOT pass regardless of what the "sniffer" test says. Smog equipment that the factory supplied must be present on cars/light trucks beginning with the 1967 model year. "Collector" cars are exempted IF they are insured as such ( read that as it has to qualify as a collector vehicle per the insurance company, and the policy MUST say "collector vehicle". Such policies have limitations on use! Cannot be a daily driver, or used as a truck! )
Sorry, but that's what we have, and that was made easier than it was a couple of years ago!

Re: egr valve

Hey man I had an EGR go bad on my 95 gmc suburban it would just loose all power on the highway and would not let you give it gas it took me some time to figure out just what was causing this but what i did was just pull the vac line off of it and it ran like a top so if you think it is bad just pull the vac off and drive the hec out it. This did not cause any problems with how it ran I would even say it ran better without it.
P.s and I was able to pass the E test with it like this don't know how but it did.
