My First Project: "Addicted"
Ok so im new to the boards so let me start off by saying that you guys have the most amazing forum i have ever been on. There so much i have learned in the last few weeks from this site. Ok so here is what i got, a 1967 swb chevy shortbed been looking for the right one since i was sixteen, i drove about 600 miles to get her and i plan on doing a complete frame-off. Im 21 and this will be the firs time i have ever attempted anything like this. I have no auto body skills or welding skills however i just enrolled to get a technical degree in auto collison and restoration. Any suggestions are welcome, i am going to take as many pictures as i can and i hope there are some people that follow this thread because im sure i will have alot of questions along the way. This may not be a quick restoration because its pretty much just me. o yea and i will be a paying member very soon. Charlie

Re: My First Project: "Addicted"
Ok these pics are from Day 1 on the build only had a few hours to work on truck. Figured out that i need a new inner passenger fender. PO Beat it in then welded on a crappy battery box and then welded the inner fender to radiator support. Radiator support is pretty bad rusted on passenger side and i broke the stud off the driver side rad. support. Also going to need bottom of front fenders on pasenger and drivers side.

Re: My First Project: "Addicted"
Day 2 got a little more done, finished pulling fenders and radiator all that good stuff and starting unhooking stuff so that i can get motor and tranny ready to pull. My camera was dead so before i start back in tomorrow i will snap a few pics to get the pictures caught up with the thread. So here is my first question, on the driver side firewall where the wiring harness goes in a plastic box with a bolt right in the middle, took the bolt out but i cant figued out how to get the harness out. Thanks in advance to anyone who answers this.

Re: My First Project: "Addicted"
Nice looking truck to start with. Not much body work needed. Just take your time tearing it apart so you save time when doing the body work.

Re: My First Project: "Addicted"
Its actually worse than it looks cab corners are bad rust above windshield on inside and outside and dash is rusted where it meets the windshield, hopefully not beyond repair because i remember reading somewhere that you have to cut these dashs out.

Re: My First Project: "Addicted"
the inside of bed has some kind of coating, hopefully it went on before the rust and not to cover the rust. I think the cab is def. going to be the worst of it. I have seen some pretty rough looking trucks brough back to life though. I guess it just seems bad to me because im new to this type of thing.

Re: My First Project: "Addicted"
looks like a good looking start to me..you never really know the condition until you start tearing it down. so whats the plans for it besides frame off? you doing a resto job or custom?

Re: My First Project: "Addicted"
I guess it would be considered custom because im going with a static drop and, 18-20 wheel combo, fuelcellguy tank, cowl hood, shaved rollan in rear possibly front to if i can find a how-to on cuttiing down the frame just right. i am probabaly going to build a 383 stroker to drop in her, 3:73 posi trac. I plan to make it a mild custom that i can still cruise around in and not just a trailor queen.

Re: My First Project: "Addicted"
took the bolt out but it doesnt come apart. So what your saying is that the box on the firewall is 2 pieces that should seperate when the bolt is removed?

Re: My First Project: "Addicted"
If you already took off that bolt, just pull harder I was honestly afraid to pull too hard as well but it came off with some extra force. If you are going to completely strip the cab, go ahead and unbolt the inside part of the fusebox and then you could possibly pull from that side to make it easier.

Re: My First Project: "Addicted"
that looks like a spacer to raise it it up. i had a friend put them on his accord when he put 20's on it. shouldnt make it any harder to pull the springs out though.
