When I get to that point on my truck, I want to get the exhaust to exit where the license plate normally goes. Difficulty a 9, I'm assuming...

Re: Show me your exhaust tips and exits

awesome! this is what I was looking for! here is were I stopped on mine and now I have an idea of were to run them and how the end product will look. I just did not know whether i wanted to run inside, under or outside frame. I think I will aim for outside to end up like yours. I like when the tips are on either side of the plate but reminds me to much of a annoying 4 cycl. minitruck look, for some reason??? great I really appreciate it big al this give me major direction and motivation.

Re: Show me your exhaust tips and exits

That`s a great way to exit the pipes. They are just 'there",not trying to jump out at you.The vapors look cool rom there, too. And,you can`t beat the old "blowing dust of the road" affect of turn down pipes.
They look nice dumping down from behind the wheel wells, too, like the Camaros and Novas of the era. That`s a bit more factoryish and the rear is more hotrodish.I`ll always like the straight out under the bumper as a traditional trend on the right truck and the out behind the rear wheels at a 90 as a stockish look.

Re: Show me your exhaust tips and exits

I have to agree with you Tim, that is awesome goosing it and makeing the dust flow. My last chopper was like that and man you could really p-off people!

I realize it has all been done before but trying to do something different with the 4" tips. I have to have the balogna tubes for the echo effect! Like you said Tim shooting for WOW but very subtle still. Is that possible??

Re: Show me your exhaust tips and exits

I decided to have mine shoot straight out. It won't look so obnoxious when the roll pan is in. The tips will sit just below it and stick out about an inch. It does sound obnoxious, but that is what I wanted

Re: Show me your exhaust tips and exits

Question on the loudness of the pipes...would the pipes coming out the back be much quieter than the rear wheels? Just a thought if that was an issue.

Re: Show me your exhaust tips and exits

russj67 I love your truck and exhaust. wp I love the way yours is tucked up in also. big_al your truck sounds great! I think what my plans are is running along the frame for the width and keeping it tucked up in like the rest of the exhaust as not to be seen. once I get to the tips I think I will cut the blunt with maybe a few degree angle. they are cut right now reel sharp.

now to keep them tucked up in I think I might relieve the rear bumper to accept the tips kinda like the new dodge rams but without recess obviously in the bumper. I am thinking I will make it a 2" radius so that it takes al least have the tip.

I dont know the answer to that question? i know if the exhaust is dumped to the ground it is louder but as far as parallel to the ground I dont think it would be louder wer it comes out??

Re: Show me your exhaust tips and exits

I'm not a big fan of under the bumper. I prefer it like the way I have it. Have been thinking about angle cutting these tips, or adding some 3" tips. Probably just do a little angle cut on what I have.

Re: Show me your exhaust tips and exits

I like them straight out the back, untill you are hooking up a trailer and you have to hack and gag on those exhaust fumes!

Alot of these trucks arent towing anything so its a moot point

Sometimes they look cool coming out in front of the tire too
I especially like this look on Shortbed 4WD trucks

Just dont put semitruck-smokestacks like the diesel crowd is doing!

Sounds like she has a big ole lopey cam....cool

I had to cut mine off when put my gas tank in, (poor planning on my part) now it just ends 2 inches after the magnaflows, right in fron of the rear axle, but I kinda like not having any pipes come out at all too.
