Opinions on cab mounts
It is my understanding that there are 2 types of replacement cab mounts. One is like original, and the other slips over the originals. Is there any thing wrong with these "slip-ons for a daily driver? Will having that original mount underneath there cause the slip-on to rust from the inside out?

You can use either one depending on the damage that needs to be repaired. The slip-on one can be used if it covers the area that needs repairing and you would be able to seal it so that rust would not occur. It is probably better to replace the whole mount but it is not necessary in all cases.

RUST THROUGH
The owner b-4 me put a slip on rocker cover over the original rocker now they r both rusted through.If it were me I would cut the rust out and do it right or at least cut the rust out and see what is left then put the cover over.The rust will eventually come back.It all depends if you want to do it right or wait a few years then do it right.

I had to use slip-ons for the rear supports, they were the only ones available at the time. They seemed to be 14 ga. "satincoat" steel (sort of a fine galvinized coating). I yanked the old ones anyway, or what was left of them . The slip-ons fit nicely, and I later coated them with a heavy rubber based, spray-on undercoating. But like everyone else, I don't like the idea of having rot underneath perfectly good metal, it can be contagious and spread. The front supports were OE style, 12 ga. steel and a good coating of gloss black already applied.
