suburban gas door on pick up
hey everyone i've been looking at all you gas door ideas for gas tank relocation and let me tell you they look gorgeous!! BUT (yes there had to be something, lol) a lot of them are a lot fancier than what i am looking for.
can i just cut a gas filler off of a suburban and weld it on my bed side? can i see your pictures of the filler from the out side and inside of the body? one more question... who has used an ECE suburban tank on a pickup and can i see a picture of it installed? thank you very much. this is all going in my 67 long bed 4x4 that i am putting an 2003 8.1l into. just trying to get the fuel system done already... Re: suburban gas door on pick up
Sorry for the "no response" so far stevenk20.... I am also looking for similar info.... I have my blazer tank under the bed and have seen the posts with the behind the sidemarker filler, and in the stake pocket filler, and the in the bed filler, etc..... was wondering about using all of the available parts from the blazer aside from the tank??

Re: suburban gas door on pick up
I don't remember who did it and I actually had some photos of it (just don't remember where). I have even seen the Blazer version used. Most of us try to have it not as obvious, by adding a door and hiding it somewhere.
My $.02, if you are going to the trouble of welding in the suburban filler mount, why not just do one that is hidden.

Re: suburban gas door on pick up
Depends on what kind of gas door you are talking about? What era truck? 73-87, or 88+??? I used one welded in the side of my old truck that I drove in high school. It was out a 73+ style truck and I also had a big 40 gal. Suburban tank between my framerails. Trevor

Re: suburban gas door on pick up
I put the door from a 1991 Suburban in my 69 crew cab. I will have to find the picture now.

Re: suburban gas door on pick up
No opening door in 67-72s,but the filler opening area can still called a door, like the headlights etc.I think this is what I`m doing if I go with a rear tank.Nothing fancy or "hidden",Just a factory-looking filler location.
